Zeynep Tufekci is an associate professor at the University of North Carolina and a contributing opinion writer at the New York Times, as well as a faculty associate at the Harvard Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society.

Her book, Twitter and Tear Gas: The Power and Fragility of Networked Protest was published by Yale University Press.

Her research interests revolves around the intersection between technology and society with special emphasis on public sphere, privacy, surveillance, big data, algorithms and social change and political power.
